A 16-year-old boy has been charged in a North Seattle burglary, Seattlecrime.com is reporting, and that crime might be connected to one or more burglaries in View Ridge.
The boy was charged today with burglary and auto theft in a Feb. 25 case in which the victim was Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn’s chief of staff Julie McCoy and her husband who live in Carkeek Park. That burglary occurred the same day as a View Ridge burglary near the intersection of NE 65th Street and 48th Avenue NE.
In both cases, families were in their homes asleep when the burglaries occurred.
So what’s the connection? Well, in the Carkeek Park burglary, more than $85,000 worth of stuff was stolen, including two cars. One of those cars was recovered later in Green Lake. Also discovered at that site was the driver’s license of the husband in the Feb. 25 View Ridge burglary.
The boy was arrested on March 7 by Mercer Island police as a suspect in yet another similar burglary. Seattlecrime.com further reports that the 16-year-old admitted to Seattle detectives that he and two other boys
