Neighbors in the area of 43rd Avenue NE and NE 86th Street are being asked to keep an eye out after a burglary there early Monday evening, the Wedgwood-Wide Blockwatch Committee is reporting.
Here is how the homeowner described what happened:
“I left Monday evening at 7 p.m. to run to QFC. I came home before 7:30 to find my kitchen door ajar and the door window broken. I had left the TV on while I was gone. They took my laptop, DVD player and jewelry. I interrupted them (they must have heard the garage door open and close). I did not see them as they fled through the kitchen door before I got in the house. They were in the middle of ripping the flat-screen TV off the wall downstairs and had to leave it on the floor. They dropped my camera and some jewelry also. Police said someone had probably been watching the house.”
The homeowner further reports that the next day she saw a boy, about age 12 with a Dutch boy haircut, hanging out near a neighbor’s vehicle. She said the boy watched her and started texting on his phone when she crossed the street. He then put the phone in his pocket and took off running. She believes he was working as a lookout.
This report comes on the heels of Wednesday’s Ravenna-Bryant break-in and several in View Ridge last month.
