Everybody dance now! That’s the call being sent out by Madhavi Narayanan, a Roosevelt High School sophomore, who is organizing “Seattle Dance Fest,” a dance festival open to kids and adults on July 31 at Dahl Playfield.
All kids (adults, too) are invited to the free event, which will run from 1-4 p.m.
“Get up and dance!” is the message being sent out by Madhavi. She says the event is going to be “a lot of fun” for all levels of dancers, from beginners to experienced.
Learn a few moves to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” or Miley Cyrus’ “Hoedown Throwdown,” get your face painted, play some carnival games, learn a simple group dance and watch dance performances by ATD Co., the dance company at Wedgwood’s All That Dance.
Narayanan, who loves dance and has been taking classes for years at All That Dance, has recruited about 10 of her fellow dancers at the studio to help work with kids and adults at the event. She has reserved a large portion of Dahl Playfield and also is renting sound equipment. The ambitious event is part of her project to win her Girl Scout silver award.
If you have any questions about the event, email Madhavi at seattledancefest@gmail.com.
