Expanded Safeway celebrates Friday with jazz, special deals

August 25th, 2011 · No Comments

The Wedgwood Safeway, which underwent a nearly $10 million renovation, will celebrate Friday afternoon with special deals for shoppers and live jazz featuring musicians from Roosevelt High School and Eckstein Middle School.

The Safeway, at 7340 35th Ave. N.E., will hold a preview party from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26.

On Saturday Safeway will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 .am., which is open to the public.  Safeway will give away 200 free “Wedgwood Safeway” reusable bags to the first 200 customers on Saturday. In addition, the North Helpline food bank will be hosting a food drive on site.

From Safeway:

This Wedgwood expansion is unique for Safeway as it innovatively expanded the store by building out the basement and moving the backroom and prep areas under the sales floor. In doing so, Safeway increased the size of the store by more than 10,000 square feet without drastically altering the exterior scale of the store.

Customers have much to look forward to with exciting new features, including: A new pharmacy with private waiting and immunization rooms, expanded organic produce, full bakery, expanded deli, a floral department with kiosk and self-checkout stands.
