On Wednesday, March 28th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Rebuilding Together Seattle along with roughly 25 volunteers from sponsor Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties and partner group Green Canopy Homes to restore the home of a senior in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle.
Janice is 65 years old and lives alone in her 1919 home, where she has lived since 1980. As a former antique shop owner, Janice appreciates the classic charm of her home and understands the importance of historical preservation. Now retired, Janice has found it difficult to maintain her home, where she hopes to age in place safely. Her husband Dennis passed away in 2015, adding to the challenges of home maintenance. To give her the boost she needs, volunteers from the Master Builders Association and Green Canopy Homes will be insulating the attic, replacing old carpet with new laminate flooring, installing handrails and bathroom grab bars, cleaning gutters, and many more weatherization, energy efficiency, safety, and health focused repairs at entirely no cost to Janice.
