We have a pattern: 3 home break-ins (while residents were inside) and now 2 car break-ins — all 5 crimes within a quarter-mile of each other in a rectangular area between NE 65th Street and NE 70th Street and between 47th Avenue NE and 49th Avenue NE, according to Block Watch alerts sent out over the past month.
The most recent crimes reported, the car break-ins, occurred Sunday. A recap of each:
NE 65th Street and 49th Avenue NE: A car parked in a driveway was broken into. Taken were a new REI raincoat, a North Face jacket, two pairs of leather gloves and a hat. Other items were scattered about the driveway as though the person(s) responsible made a quick exit.
NE 68th Street and 49th Avenue NE: Someone attempted to break into a car. No items were taken but graffiti was left on the windows of the car.
The Wedgwood View will report here when more details are available. Contacts to Seattle Police have not yet been returned.
