This is an invitation to all women who want to sing with a non-audition chorus in North Seattle.
The Emerald City Women’s Chorus is looking for more members. The chorus meets in the Wedgwood neighborhood on Monday nights (7:30-9:30 p.m.) during the “school year.” Winter quarter 2018 starts Monday, January 15 (yes, the evening of MLK Day) and wraps-up after 10 rehearsals with a community concert on Sunday, March 25. Cost is $117 for the quarter, including music provided for each singer to keep. The music sung is a mix of genres, from show tunes to classical to folk and rock and roll, with the occasional song in a foreign language.
Emerald City Women’s Chorus was established in Fall 2017, in collaboration with Music Center of the Northwest, by members who had previously sung together in the (now disbanded) Rain City Women’s Chorus and wanted to continue singing in a supportive, fun and non-audition chorus. The chorus currently has 40 members. Stacia Cumberland is the chorus artistic director, and Tom Hecker is the accompanist.
The chorus wants to expand its membership and extends an invitation to all women who enjoy singing for the joy of it. For information about the chorus call Sharon Glein at (206) 525-7497 (please leave a message), register through Music Center of the Northwest by calling (206) 526-8443, or come at 7:00 p.m. before the first rehearsal at the Wedgwood Community Church, 8201 30th Ave NE, Seattle on Monday, January 15, 2018.
