With a name ripe for rhymes and jokes, the community has decided on a moniker for the city’s first composting toilet, and the winner is … Picaloo.
On a blustery spring day, community members cast their votes as part of opening day of the Picardo Farm P Patch. Capturing all of the action for tonight’s dinnertime newscasts (and maybe later at 11 p.m.) were KOMO-4 TV and KING-5 TV.
Less ceremonious but no less momentous, Picaloo was christened by at least three community members — or so I’m told by Trent from the P Patch. Having said that, Trent said Picaloo is now open for “taking yours and other community members’ deposits.”
Getting serious, Trent reminds all that Picaloo’s success — or failure — will be decided by how well the community cares for it. Though usage guidelines and self-cleaning materials are inside the shed-like loo, no paid employees will be maintaining it.
When you look at it that way, doing your business is fairly serious business.
